We are not afraid of monsters, especially if they are as rich as the one in the photo. It is a puff pastry pie with egg and minced meat. A guaranteed success.

We are going to use purchased puff pastry, to make it a very easy recipe. Of course, the minced meat will be cooked in a Thermomix.

Our monster has three eyes but that is a matter of taste. If you have children, they will surely be delighted to inspire you and customize this monstrous pie.

An empanada designed for Halloween... monstrous.

Monster empanada, puff pastry and minced meat

Ingredients

  • 100 g of onion in pieces
  • 30 butter g
  • 600 g of minced meat
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • A little ground pepper
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • Some milk or beaten egg to paint the surface

Preparation

  1. We put the onion in the glass and program 5 seconds, speed 5. We lower with the spatula what has remained on the walls of the glass.

  2. We add the butter. Without putting the cup, we program 3 minutes, 120º, speed 1.

  3. Add the minced meat, salt and pepper. Mix well with the spatula. We program 7 minutes, 120º, speed 1.

  4. Strain the meat to remove the liquid (we will not need it). We can use the basket: strain and put the meat back in the glass or in a bowl, so that it is not too dry.

  5. Put one of the puff pastry sheets at the base of a mold about 28 centimeters in diameter. 

  6. We distribute half of the meat on that sheet of puff pastry. Break the hard-boiled eggs and place them on top. On them we put the rest of the meat.

  7. Unroll the second sheet of puff pastry. We make the cuts of the eyes, nose and mouth. We put that sheet of puff pastry already "decorated" on the meat. Cut off the excess dough and seal the edges with your fingers. With the leftover dough we make, if we want, the eyebrows and place them over the eyes.

  8. We paint the surface with a little milk or beaten egg.

  9. Bake at 180º (preheated oven) for approximately 40 minutes, until we see that the surface is golden.
