Hazelnut cake

To enjoy Sunday to the fullest we suggest a rich and simple hazelnut cake flavored with the peel of an orange.

We'll peel that same orange and also remove the segments using this technique. Since our goal is to use every part of it, I cooked those segments in a pan with a couple of tablespoons of sugar and then used them to top the cake.

And with the three egg whites... what do we do? Here are some tricks and recipes to take advantage of them.

Wonderful hazelnut cake with a delicate orange flavor

Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 150 g of hazelnuts
  • 120 g brown sugar
  • The peel of an orange (only the orange part)
  • 100 g of sunflower oil
  • 70g milk
  • 3 eggs
  • Yolks 3
  • 170 g flour
  • A sachet of baking yeast

And also (optional)

  • The orange we peeled
  • A couple of tablespoons of sugar

Preparation

  1. We put the hazelnuts in the glass. We program 10 seconds, speed 5. We remove to a bowl and reserve.

  2. Now we put the sugar and orange peel in the glass. We program 15 seconds, speed 10.

  3. We fit the butterfly into the blades. We add the oil, the milk, the three whole eggs and the three yolks. We program 1 minute, speed 3.

  4. We add the hazelnuts that we chopped at the beginning, the 170 g of flour and the yeast. We program 30 seconds, speed 4.

  5. We remove the butterfly and finish integrating everything with the spatula.

  6. We put the mixture in a mold of about 26 centimeters in diameter.

  7. Bake at 180º for approximately 30 minutes.

  8. We can take advantage of this time to cook the orange. Just peel it and cut the segments. Then, add the segments to the pan with two tablespoons of sugar and cook over low heat.

  9. When it's cold, we serve the cake with the orange segments.
